On 20 October, the Faculty of Science will for the very first time host an Inspiration Day for teachers. It will be a full day packed with pedagogical discussions, fresh ideas for the classroom, actor training, and opportunities to meet colleagues from across the faculty. We asked Charlotta Turner, Vice Dean for First- and Second-Cycle Education, why it is so important for our teachers to join – and what she herself hopes to take away from the day. In addition to meeting colleagues from across the faculty, participants will also get the chance to explore LINXS’ premises at The Loop. Teachers at LTH who teach on our courses are also warmly welcome to participate.

Lotta, what insights and tools can teachers expect to take away from the Inspiration Day?
– We will learn about teaching with our students, about the importance of trust in the learning environment, and how actor training can strengthen us in our teaching role. We will also discuss the societal relevance of our programmes. What I value most about the day is that we come together across the entire faculty. It is the first time we organise something in this format, and the programme is designed to genuinely inspire – not to tell people how to teach.

Why is it important that we do this together as a faculty?
– It is identity-building that we gather as teachers from across the faculty. Science and mathematics play a central role in society and within the STEM fields, and that role becomes clearer when we stand united.

How can participants themselves contribute to the day?
– Come with an open mind, talk to colleagues, and share your own experiences during discussions and coffee breaks. You are also welcome to bring a poster – just indicate it when you register.

What do you personally hope to get out of the day?
– To socialise, be inspired together with others, and to have fun! I think I will bring home new insights into pedagogy, into my own role as a teacher in relation to students, and into how we can look ahead in light of increasing digitalisation.

And which highlights of the programme are you especially looking forward to?
– I am looking forward to the keynote lecture by Dr Rachel Forsyth, who will talk about building inclusive relationships in the classroom, based on research on trust. Then I am excited to hear our own colleagues present their teaching from different perspectives. And I am very curious about the actor training – that is something truly new for us as science teachers!

How to register
The Inspiration Day takes place on Monday, 20 October 2025, from 08:00 to 16:45, in The Loop at Science Village – in bright, new facilities that we hope will provide extra energy. We will be hosted by LINXS, on the top floor of the building, right at the tram’s final stop. Lunch and coffee are included, and the day ends with an optional After Work (at your own expense) at the Motel L Skybar.

The event is free of charge and open to all teachers who teach on courses at the Faculty of Science. The number of places is limited to 50, so please register as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is 29 September.
