Decisions
The matters for decision concerned the procedure for allocating faculty funding to research infrastructure initiatives, as well as the degree requirements for the one-year Master’s programmes in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, and Physical Geography.

Information and discussion
An annual cycle of the Faculty Board’s work was presented, along with updates on the ongoing processes aimed at establishing a joint department for the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences by 1 January 2026. The network-based organisation of CEC and its activities were also discussed.

The Dean provided an overview of the timeline and prerequisites for the budget planning process for 2026. The allocation of government funding for 2025 will form the basis for the development of a new distribution model for research and third-cycle (doctoral) education. Due to time constraints, the agenda item on the dimensioning of doctoral education was postponed. However, a proposal for a distribution model for undergraduate education was presented.

Annika Mårtenson, Assistant dean at Faculty of Engineering, LTH, presented the process moving forward regarding the establishment of NanoLab Science Village in Science Village. The same information was also presented to the LTH Board.

The student representative from LUNA informed the board about the ATLAS initiative, and the student representative from Science Doctoral Student Council (NDR) highlighted the challenges of reaching out to doctoral students, such as conveying essential information about the rights and responsibilities of international students. 

Finally, the Dean briefly informed the board about an upcoming university-wide task to all faculties to analyse strengths and weaknesses in the university’s positioning in international rankings such as THE (Times Higher Education) and QS (Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking). The Dean also briefly mentioned other ongoing initiatives at the faculty office, including continued work on the Study Centre with integrated library services, export control och commissioned education.
