Being awarded an honorary doctorate at our faculty is one of the finest honours we can bestow. It recognises individuals who have had a significant impact on our research, education or one of our subject areas. Take the opportunity to nominate a person you think deserves this honour.
Who can be awarded an honorary doctorate?
- Distinguished researchers at foreign universities or equivalent, who have made significant contributions to our faculty through various types of collaboration.*
- Persons who have made contributions of great importance to one of the faculty's subject areas.*
- Persons in Sweden who, through their research efforts, have benefited research in one of the faculty's subject areas.*

How to nominate
You nominate honorary doctors via webform, see the link below. The nomination deadline is 31 October 2024. Please note that you may not make your nomination public or inform the person you are nominating.

* The person to be appointed honorary doctor must not have any legal or financial influence on the Faculty of Science. Persons who have previously obtained a doctorate, or been appointed honorary doctor, in Sweden may only be appointed if the degree has a prefix other than filosofie. This restriction does not apply to doctoral degrees obtained at foreign universities.
