The Geolibrary is moving to the Astronomy building – temporarily closed summer 2025

Astronomihuset. Bild.

During the summer of 2025, the Geolibrary will move from its current location in Geocentrum II to new premises on the upper floor of the Astronomy Building at Sölvegatan 27A. Due to the move, the library will be closed from 9 June to 31 August. Please also note that the library will be closed on 6 June for Sweden’s National Day.

Borrowing materials for the summer

The print collection will not be accessible while the library is closed. If you are a student or researcher and need to borrow materials over the summer, you must do so before the closure on 9 June. It will not be possible to request books or journals from the Geolibrary collections for pick-up at other Lund University libraries during this period.

Reopening in new premises in September

On 1 September, the Geolibrary will reopen in its new location. Selected parts of the print collection – including course literature – will be available, along with study spaces, printers, search computers, and staff support. Please note that there will be no group study rooms in the new library.

Parts of the collection moving to storage

Sections of the print collection that will not move to the new premises (mainly journals) will be reviewed during autumn 2025 and gradually transferred to the University Library’s storage facility at Gastelyckan. These materials will only become available again once they are shelved in the new storage location.

We hope the move will not cause too much inconvenience and appreciate your understanding that some materials may need to be ordered via interlibrary loan during this period.

We look forward to welcoming you to the new Geolibrary on 1 September!
