On 18 June, Lund University Vice-Chancellor Erik Renström formally appointed Professor Charlotta Turner as Dean and Professor Karin Rengefors as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science for the 2027–2029 term.

The appointments follow the faculty election held earlier this spring, in which faculty employees expressed their support for Charlotta Turner as Dean and Karin Rengefors as Deputy Dean. They will take up their positions on 1 January 2027.

Charlotta Turner is currently Professor of Analytical Chemistry and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science. Karin Rengefors is Professor of Aquatic Ecology and currently serves as Deputy Dean.

In interviews conducted in connection with the election, Charlotta Turner highlighted the importance of creating a faculty where people meet across disciplinary boundaries and where it is inspiring, rewarding and enjoyable to work and study. She also emphasised the importance of an open environment in which different perspectives can be expressed and discussed.

Karin Rengefors, meanwhile, expressed her ambition to continue developing the long-term work already under way within her areas of responsibility, particularly doctoral education and academic recruitment.
