At its meeting on 23 September, the Faculty Board approved new general syllabi for third-cycle studies in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics and Medical Radiation Physics. The syllabi replace previous versions and apply to doctoral students admitted from 23 September 2026 onwards.
The Board decided that PLUS, the Unit for Pedagogy, Learning and Development Support, will be discontinued and that its activities, including staff, will be transferred to the Division for Higher Education Development (AHU). The Dean was also tasked with reaching an agreement with the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology to meet the Faculty's needs for training in higher education teaching and learning, as well as educational development support, during a three-year transition period.
Professor Dirk Rudolph was appointed Vice-Dean for research and Senior Lecturer Anders Scherstén was appointed Vice-Dean for first- and second-cycle education for the period 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029.
The Faculty Board also decided that, from 2027 onwards, all interest income allocated by the Vice-Chancellor will be distributed to the departments. The decision reflects the Faculty's current level of accumulated agency capital, which is considered too high. The Board also received information about the financial outlook for 2027.
Peter Samuelsson, Professor and Head of Division at the Department of Physics, gave a presentation on quantum technology, outlining national initiatives and developments in the field at Lund University.
The Dean informed the Board about the Vice-Chancellor's decision to allocate additional funding to NanoLab Science Village and what this means for the Faculty of Science.
Finally, the Board received an update on the work carried out so far on the Faculty's strategic priorities.
