The decision assigns LU Estates, in close collaboration with LTH and the Faculty of Science, the task of evaluating the newly developed premises programme from December 2023 for Stage 2. It also involves conducting an in-depth investigation of space requirements. The goal is to produce a preliminary study to concretize spacial needs to facilitate a smooth transition onto the next phase of the project, which includes the procurement of a landlord.
The steering committee, chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for research, sustainability, and campus development, will continue to have overall responsibility for, and supervision of, Stage 2. The committee's mandate is expanded to include:
- comprehensive coordination of both Stage 1, which includes Nanolab Science Village, and Stage 2.
- monitor the conditions for the university’s establishment in Science Village based on municipal and regional planning and the property owner's area planning.
The faculty-based steering group for Stage 2 will also continue its mission.
The project group, with a few new members, will take on the work of evaluating the premises programme and producing a preliminary study for Stage 2. It includes representatives from LTH and the Faculty of Science as well as LU Estates.
In addition to this, the Vice-Chancellor's decision presents a preliminary timeline for the work. The processing of the premises programme is expected to continue until the autumn of 2024, and the preliminary study is projected to be completed by spring 2025. The overall goal is to compile the procurement documentation for the landlord by the summer of that year.
