Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
In order to obtain the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, the student must have completed the courses required, and successfully defended a scientific thesis. The thesis is presented at a public defence, called a disputation. The degree is equivalent to 240 higher education credits, or at least four years of full-time work.
Booking a date for the thesis defence
The student books the defence date himself in a web-based booking system.
Application for the defence
The professor responsible for the research discipline is formally
responsible for the application, which shall be made no later than 8 weeks
before the defence. The application is made using a web-based form that is
accessed through the booking system.
(A defence date must be booked before the application can be filed in the system.)
